As the Holiday season quickly approaches, it can becomes very difficult to focus on your work, quarterly goals, and just staying motivated overall. While we always want to hit our numbers, we also want to be able to slow down during the holidays. It’s important to be able to connect with friends and family and feel rejuvenated for the new year.
In order to do both, it’s important to get ahead of the slow time. We asked Alanna Cochran, Alex Cutler, Emma Georgantis & Cathy Unruh from AllSearch Recruiting’s HVAC & Mechanical Service Division to share tips on how they stay motivated during the Holiday season.
1. Morning Exercise, making to do list, listening to Holiday Music. Also, being proactive with you clients and asking what their calendar looks like the rest of the year. You want to know now if they have 1-2 week vacations planned throughout the holidays and wont be available for interviews. You then have to prioritize the right openings that are closest to the money.
2. Reward Yourself, I put together a list of 10 things I want to buy/treat myself to within a certain dollar amount range, and I put together small little goals for each week/month and when I hit one, I choose something from that list of things I want to buy/treat myself to.
3. Know your numbers and what you need to achieve. You can’t get where you’re going without knowing the goal and where you’re at currently. Are you on pace, ahead, behind? What kind of activity do you need to do to achieve your goals all while planning for some down time.
4. Plan. Take some time out of the daily activity to see what it is you need to achieve and how you’re going to get there. What are your deals that are most likely to close? How much do you need beyond that? What clients (or type of client) are most likely to close quickly?
5. Think about your messaging to increase sense of urgency. Are there certain verticals that often make changes around this time of year? Do your clients typically like to make purchases/change services before the end of the budget year? Can you encourage decisions to be made before 12/15 and vacation season starts?
